چکیده

 Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-furans (“dioxins”) is a term used to refer to a group of 210 compounds with similar chemical structures  Most of these compounds pose no health hazard at the levels commonly found but 17 of them are of more toxicological concern  The most toxic dioxin is 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) and most of the available data refer to this compound

Inhibition of human and rat CYP1A2 by TCDD and dioxin-like chemicals.

Dioxins have been shown to bind and induce rodent CYP1A2, producing a dose-dependent hepatic sequestration in vivo. The induction of CYP1A2 activity has been used as a noninvasive biomarker for human exposure to dioxins; while there is a consistent relationship between exposure and hepatic CYP1A2 induction in rodents, this relationship has only been observed in some of the highest exposed human...

Developmental neurotoxicity of dioxin and its related compounds.

This manuscript reviewed the neurotoxicity of dioxins and related compounds with an emphasis on maternal exposure. The brain during developmental period is thought to be highly sensitive to dioxin and its related compounds that affect a broad range of brain functions from the advanced brain function to the reproduction-controlling function, even at low doses. It is suggested that dioxins exhibi...

Endocrine Disruptors in Endometriosis

Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent disease, which involves the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity, commonly in the pelvic region. The etiology of the disease is unclear, but multiple factors may contribute to its prognosis. Toxicological studies indicate that many chemicals are able to interfere with endocrine homeostasis, called endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) lik...

Long-term hazards of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans.

During January 10-11, 1978 in Lyon, France, a joint National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences/International Agency for Research on Cancer ad hoc Working Group considered and discussed the feasibility of coordinating epidemiological studies on the long-term hazards associated with the chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and chlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDDs and and PCDFs). Nineteen invited sc...
